Qantas Staff Credit Union Corporate Fundraising

Why did you choose to support Assistance Dogs?
We’ve always been a big supporter of local charities in which we felt our donations could really make a difference. Supporting a charity where you have a very real and tangible impact is important to us.

How do you feel about sponsoring Meaa the super pup?
Absolutely thrilled! Apart from being gorgeous, we’re excited about watching her grow and develop into an Assistance Dog - who will one day play an important role in supporting a child or adult with physical disabilities.

In your own words how will Qantas make a difference to the community by sponsoring Meaa.
We intend to communicate to our members and staff Meaa’s progress as she grows and develops, which will no doubt build awareness of supporting children and adults with physical disabilities – as well as supporting this very worthy charity.

How does supporting Meaa in her training fit in with you overall goals/aims and strategies?
The name “MEAA” actually represents an acronym of our organisational values:
Mutual, Energy, Authentic, Achieving, and we felt this was a great fit for us as these are the values which will be important for Meaa will learn as she goes through her training for the next 18 months.

Does having an Assistance Dog improve staff moral, motivation etc?
Definitely. Supporting such a worthy charity in a big way has had an enormous impact on our staff. When staff are proud of what an organisation stands for they’re more engaged and committed to the organisation.

What’s the best thing about sponsoring Meaa?
Nothing brings smiles to faces like a puppy. Meaa has brought a lot of joy to our organisation, and we hope that she can do the same for the person she’s placed with one day.

How did you enjoy your first visit from Meaa?
Loved it! We were building up to this day for a while. We’ve been running a staff competition to name our little superstar for a couple of weeks, and with only 150 staff we had over 170 entries! We even allowed staff to bring along their children to enjoy the experience of her first visit.

What are your hopes for Meaa?
At 9 weeks we already know she’ll be the top of her class! She’s a very happy and smart little pup, but she still has a lot to learn. We hope she continues her journey and develops as much as she can to add freedom and support to a special person once she graduates.

What would you say to other companies looking to get involved?
There’s no doubt in my mind that we have made the right choice in supporting Assistance Dogs. I’ve always believed that whatever charity you choose to support should make a real difference – a difference that you can communicate back to your staff and your customers. It builds rapport with your staff and communicates to people that you care about the community and people in need. It’s all about giving back.
