Puppy Raising
Would you like a dog but don't want to commit to 14 years? THEN WHY NOT PUPPY RAISE?
Raise a puppy in your home for up to 18 months to help give someone a better quality of life.
- Holidays, no worries, another committed volunteer will look after your pup
- All major expenses paid, ie, food, vet bills, heartworm & flea control
- Enjoy being involved in a group of volunteers and learn dog training skills
- Whether you work part time or not at all you are encouraged to get involved
To be eligible for consideration as a puppy raiser we require you to not be working full time, have no children under school age, have a suitable secure yard and be willing to have an inside dog.
Puppy Sitting
Do you want to look after a dog but not make a commitment? How about becoming a puppy sitter?
Puppy sitters look after our dogs in training when the puppy raisers go on holiday or are, for whatever reason, unable to look after the pup. Puppy sitters are called upon as needed and may be required for a weekend, week or a month!
- All major expenses paid, ie, food, vet bills, heartworm & flea control
- Enjoy being involved in a group of volunteers and learn dog training skills
- Whether you work part time or not at all you are encouraged to get involved
To be eligible for consideration as a Puppy Sitter we ideally require you to not be working full time, have no children under school age, have a suitable secure yard and be willing to have an inside dog.
Locations
Assistance Dogs Australia are currently looking for Puppy Raisers and Sitters in:
- Sutherland Shire or surrounding areas (you would need to be willing to travel to the Sutherlnad Shire for lessons during the 18 months of puppy raising)
- Alexandria and surrounding areas
- Picton (15 mins from Camden NSW) and surrounding areas
- Wagga Wagga
- Victoria (located in Eastern side of Melbourne and Geelong area)
- Brisbane
- Perth

Puppy Socialising
Do you love the cute little puppy stage? Wish they could stay that way forever?
Then why not become a Puppy Socialiser!
Care for a puppy in your home for the first 4-8 weeks of its training.
- All major expenses paid, ie, food, vet bills, heartworm & flea control
- Enjoy being involved in a group of volunteers and learn dog training skills
To be eligible for consideration as a puppy socialiser we require that there be someone home during the day, have no children under school age, have a suitable secure yard, be willing to have an inside dog, you attend puppy classes, you ideally have experience/understanding of dog behaviour.
Assistance Dogs Australia is currently looking for Puppy Socialisers in the Sutherland Shire or surrounding areas (you would need to be willing to travel to the Sutherlnad Shire for lessons during the 18 months of puppy raising).
Bed and Breakfast
Do you want to look after a dog but not make a commitment? Would you like to care for a dog overnight whilst it continues its training? Then why not consider our Bed and Breakfast program?
Care for an adult dog in need of some ‘down-time’ whilst keeping up their training and routine.
- All major expenses paid, ie, food, vet bills, heartworm & flea control
- Enjoy being involved in a group of volunteers and learn dog training skills
To be eligible for consideration for our Bed and Breakfast program we require that there be someone home during the day (or if not that you live in the Sutherland Shire area of Sydney close to our National Training Centre), have no children under school age, have a suitable secure yard and be willing to have an inside dog.
