ABC Radio Hobart helps us name a prison pup
Three Labrador puppies in training have been sentenced to 16 months in Ron Barwick minimum security prison as part of Assistance Dogs Australia's Pups in Prison Program, but before they arrive, one of these cute and cuddly puppies needs your help.
The beautiful eight week old yellow Labrador (pictured) is waiting patiently for a name and she needs you to help her choose one in a competition being run on ABC Hobart Morning Breakfast Program with Andy Muirhead from 5:30 am. She would like to be named after a geographical place in Tasmainia and her name must be two syllables.
The other two puppies are being named by the students at the Risdon Vale Primary School and the staff of the Correctional Centre.
All three puppies will be introduced at the official opening of the Pups in Prison program at Ron Barwick Minimum Security Prison on 11th February 2010, to be held by the Hon Lisa Singh MP Minister for Corrections.
Assistance Dogs Australia is a non profit organisation trains Labradors and Golden Retrievers to enhance the quality of life and give freedom and independence to people with physical disabilities. As a result of our program these highly trained dogs allow recipients to have greater mobility, gain confidence and have higher self esteem.
All name entries should be sent to tasbreakfast@your.abc.net.au
