Puppies Behind Bars
As of the 23rd Dogtober, puppies in training Toto (pictured), Toohey, Titan and Tim Tam have been living behind bars at Darling Downs Correctional Centre Toowoomba, while our newest Justice Pups, River and Rina headed to Riverina Juvenile Justice Centre in Wagga Wagga on the 18th November.
The men and boys in the centres will take the role of puppy raisers and handlers, training the puppies, who in turn will help them develop skills to assist in their own rehabilitation – skills such as improved communication, increased self confidence and the ability to work as a team member.
They also provide a way for the men to give back to the community – helping give freedom and independence to people with physical disabilities. We also have two new puppies, Charla and Capri being puppy raised in the Brisbane community.
