The Craig and Yeltsin Story

The Craig and Yeltsin Story

Like most relationships it began with a handshake but the friendship that has blossomed between Craig and his new Service Dog, Yeltsin is priceless.

Yeltsin, was welcomed into the Dodge family at Christmas last Year and this handsome and quirky black Labrador is ready to change the life of Craig and his family, lending them a helping paw and making it easier for Craig to get out and about.

"We've gone to the shopping centre and also the cinema and he was very well behaved" said Craig.

"We went to the late show [at the cinema] and he was great, it was really successful and exciting for everyone."

Yeltsin will help Craig perform everyday tasks that people with physical disabilities find difficult if not impossible to achieve; tasks such as opening and closing doors, picking up all manner of dropped items, collecting the mail or paying the cashier at the shops. Yelsin is also trained to alert bark if Craig is in trouble or falls out of his wheelchair.

"I had a fall in the library bathroom and he was very helpful making sure I had the phone and giving me his attention," Craig said."He was very worried and stayed with me the whole time".
