The Daniel and Ursula Story
After almost a year, Assistance Dog Ursula is still dazzling the Johnston family, especially her recipient Daniel, from Blackbutt, with more than just her pretty face.
Ursula is Daniel’s Companion Dog and she gives him a new found freedom and independence, encouraging him to get out and about more, going for walks most days to their local reserve. She loves being able to run around and chase the Frisbee and enjoys swimming in Daniel’s backyard swimming pool.
“She [Ursula] is a companion dog but because she has been through all the training a service dog has she will do things for me – like pick things up for me if I ask her.â€
But best of all Ursula is the truest friend anyone could ask for.
“She sleeps with me and is a really nice friend. She loves to lie on my feet and always lets me know that she’s around,†Daniel said. “She is always doing something that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling insideâ€.
