Assistance Dogs Australia trains three types of Assistance Dog suitable for different needs. Please read this page thoroughly to select the right dog for your needs
Service Dog- Full Public Access, Adults only.
Service Dogs are trained to support a person in their home and community environments. They are trained to travel on public transport and support someone in public settings and have full public access rights. Minimum age for being granted a Service Dog is 18 years of age.
Companion Dog
Companion Dogs are suitable for adults or children and are trained to support their recipients in the home environment. They are not trained to support the individual for community access, therefore, are not trained to travel on public transport and support the recipient in public settings.
Facility Dog
Facility Dogs are trained to support residents in facilities such as nursing homes, hospices or other care facilities. They are not trained to support the residents for community access; therefore, are not trained to travel on public transport and support the recipient in public settings.
