Make a difference through sponsoring a puppy- Change someone’s life – forever

The moment a newly qualified Assistance Dog meets their new team mate for the first time is a truly magical one. It’s made all the better when you know that the money you’ve given has played a big part in making it happen.

So why is your puppy sponsorship so important?

The Facts

  •      At the moment we have created over 130 team partnerships all around Australia.

  •      We have awaiting list of over 50 people needing an Assistance Dog

  •      The average wait for an Assistance Dog is over two years; we desperately want to reduce this.

Your sponsorship will help pay for more puppies to be trained and reduce our ever growing waiting list. You can learn here how sponsoring a super pup works.

Each Assistance dog partnership involves 24 months of training, around nine years of support and has a lifetime cost of around $26,000. We couldn’t continue to train and support Assistance dogs without our puppy sponsors. That could be you!

Assistance Dogs Australia receives NO regular government funding, so we rely entirely on the kindness of our supporters.  We really couldn’t do it without you.

But don’t just take our word for it …

Recipient story -Holly and Masey

14 year old Holly has cerebellar and vermian hypoplasia which affects her physical and mental development but Masey is helping Holly to develop her gross and fine motor skills. Just by patting and playing with Masey, Holly can practise her skills and develop her confidence.

But more importantly, Masey provides Holly with companionship and love, offering a paw to hold when times are rough.

She’s the best dog ever. She’s my best friend.” Holly said.

Sponsor story – Qantas staff Credit Union who sponsor Meaa

“We decided to sponsor a puppy as we felt our donations could really make a difference.

Meaa is absolutely gorgeous, we’re excited about watching her grow and develop into an Assistance Dog - who will one day play an important role in supporting a child or adult with physical disabilities.

Supporting such a worthy charity in a big way has had an enormous impact on our staff. When staff are proud of what an organisation stands for they’re more engaged and committed to the organisation”

Raisers story- Stephanie, responsible for looking after sponsored pup Daisy

" When I heard about the Assistance Dogs organisation I was immediately taken with the idea of training dogs to be not only a companion, but an assistant as well.   Having grown up with dogs my whole life I couldn't imagine a better helper and companion.   We have been raising Daisy for eight months and there is no more loving, sweet and enjoyable puppy who has bought  joy and pleasure (with a little frustration thrown in to make it real) to the whole family.  She will be sorely missed when it is time for her to commence her working life, however, I have no doubt that the lucky recipient of Daisy as a full time Assistance Dog will experience the pleasure and companionship that she provides to our family on a daily basis."

Trainers Story- Carrie, Senior K9 Trainer.

“I’m the puppies’ teacher at Assistance Dog ‘school’
I am responsible for the advanced training of our dogs and matching a dog with their perfect team mate. I have the best job, I have the opportunity to work with dogs which is a passion but also to work with people and make a difference to their lives. For me the best part is seeing the smile on the face of the child or adult when they first receive their Assistance Dog”.
